The Great Falls Americans Junior A Hockey team finished the weekend strong by posting a 2-1 record against the Badlands (SD) Sabres (1-4 record) at the Great Falls Ice Plex.
Dmitri Kuleshov, Christian Crutcher, Jacob James, and Aaron James all scored to lead the Great Falls Americans to a thrilling 4-3 win over the Badlands Sabres on Friday night. Ryan Stowe recorded 42 saves for the winning side. The Sabres scored once during each period as Brady Ridnour, Aden Cobbs, and Carter Kilen found the back of the net. Hunter Oger made 34 saves for the South Dakota squad.
The Sabres earned redemption on Saturday night as they posted a 3-1 victory over the Americans. Great Falls got on the scoreboard first as Dmitri Kuleshov scored the only goal in the first period by either team. Aden Cobbs and Ryan Jordan each scored for the Sabres in the second period and Brooks Roaldson added one in the third. Badlands goaltender Easton Eriksmoen got his first win for the visitors with 49 saves. Adler Hoagland took the loss for Great Falls but not before getting 31 saves.
Great Falls saved the best for last as they won Sunday afternoon’s contest with a thrilling 6-5 victory in a shootout. Dmitri Kuleshov scored a hat trick (3 goals) as the home team overcame a deficit to tie the game at the end of regulation and forced overtime. Neither team scored in overtime, but Kuleshov was the only player to score in the shootout to give the Americans an overall record of 4-3-0-0. Bake Komrofske added two scoring drives for Great Falls. Aden Cobbs, Ryan Jordan, Carter Kilen, Max Mehus and Laurence Lundberg all put points on the board for Badlands. Ryan Stowe improved to 3-0-0-0 by finishing with 22 saves for the Americans. Dakota Jahnke took his first loss of the season for the Sabres.
